Abstract Objective This essay is written to explore whether tea polyphenols(TP) im⁃ proves the expression of superoxide dimutase and inhibits cell apoptosis in brain tissue after cardiopul⁃ monary resuscitation(CPR). Methods Cardiac arrest/cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CA/CPR)model was established using the method of alternating current- esophagus stimulation. Sham group(SH)was treated without CA/CPR(n=6). Forty-eight rats, once spontaneous circulation restoring, were divided into two groups, tea TP group(10 mg/kg,iv. ,n=24)and model group(injection equal of normal saline, n=24). Each group respectively was set 12 h,24 h,48 h,72 h four detection points, with 6 rats in each time point. The cerebral tissue of superoxide dismutase fluorescence density and apoptotic cells were detected with immunofluorescence labeling method and Caspase3/TUNEL double labeling method. Results After CPR,the SOD fluorescence density of both model and TP group was lower than that of control group(P<0.05). The density in TP group was significantly higher than that in the model groupat four time points(P< 0.05). 72 h after CPR,Caspase3/TUNEL positive rate of TP group was obviously lower in the model group(P<0.05). Conclusion Tea polyphenol can improve the SOD expression and inhibit cell apoptosis in brain tissues of rats after CPR.
